And the winners are…

Good morning crafters,

I hope you’re all keeping warm over these shorter colder days, and that you’ve got lots of crafting to do to keep you busy…

Lockdown Charity Crafting promotion

… and busy some of you have definitely been! What a HUGE response we had for the Lockdown promotion – with a total of 2620 items coming in to Crafty Volunteers Coordinators around the country, and going in to the draw to win yarn vouchers from Kapiti Knitting and Lotto.

When you consider that some crafters donate directly to their favourite charities, and we don’t have Coordinator coverage over all regions in New Zealand, this is an outstanding number. Lets just look at that number again:

2620

I’m just so impressed, that with the worries of Covid-19 out there in the community, and the future financial impact that some of you may be facing, crafters around the country are continuing to be so amazingly generous with their time and their skill. Thank you all so very much!

Lisa (from the other end of the computer) and I did the draw for the winners last week (thanks to my hubby for videoing it for us), using a “random number generator” app and a rather lengthy spreadsheet that poor Lisa was frantically scrolling up and down through – 2620 lines in a spreadsheet is a lot!

And the winners of the 5 x $50 yarn vouchers were:

  • Library Knitters from Masterton
  • Mary from Masterton (an elderly housebound lady with no social media or email – so huge thanks to Coordinator Shona for assisting with receiving the voucher)
  • Yvonne Hinga (a new member from Tauranga)
  • Shelley Marshall (from Papamoa)
  • Pat Jennings (from the Bay of Plenty)

Huge thanks again to Paula and Richard from Kapiti Knitting and Lotto for your assistance with providing the vouchers to our lucky winners.

Crafting Sessions around the country

With some venues starting to open for crafting sessions around the country, and of course loads of crafters eager to meet up with their crafty friends, we will be updating our Events page on the website as information comes in. If you’re not on Facebook, please do refer to this page regularly as we are hoping to receive info about lots of crafting groups to keep you all informed. If you are a Facebook person, we will be loading events on our main Crafty Volunteers Facebook page, and sharing events into the Charity Yarn Stash Group.

If you are involved with a crafting group anywhere in New Zealand (whether the group crafts for charity or not), please do feel free to email me (maggie@craftyvolunteers.org.nz) with the details of the group, and I’ll happily add your crafting sessions to our Events page.

Stay safe, stay warm, and huge thanks to everyone for all of your amazing contributions to charity.

Yours – with love, compassion and hope.

Maggie
